“Your Kingdom Come” – Our hope and Expectation

We all went to the polls this week to right the wrongs done in the land, as Christians this is our duty.  We did so praying and trusting God that governments would reward the good and punish evil (Rm 13), also, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life” (1 Tim. 2:1-2), and we pray that the rulers of this world might soon, “kiss the Son” (Ps 2:12) before the Day of judgment comes.

ALL other paths in the end lead to bondage, whether led by a Republican, Democrat or any other party, human ideologies cannot possibly bring the blessings of the Gospel or provide sustainable substitutes for the holy freedom, equity, and righteousness which Christians already have in the Kingdom of Christ. Our hope for this world and the next is in heaven’s King and those of us who are Christ’s will walk according to the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25).

Three millennia ago king David sang to encourage his own heart and the hearts of all the godly, “And I will walk at liberty, For I seek Your precepts. I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, And will not be ashamed” (Psalm 119:45-46).  Certainly then, we who have the greater light and responsibility of the New Covenant can sing this anthem of the free in front of present day kings with at least equal warmth and love to King Jesus. “For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver, The LORD is our King; He will save us” (Isaiah 33:22).

Let’s not forget that the only one who can secure our liberty is God.
